I wouldn’t call a Minotaur an animal, but I would call King Kong an animal, an over-grown ape and fictional at that, but still an animal. Same way a dragon, mythical it may be, is still an over-grown lizard.

Don’t get me wrong, the Longines piece looks cool, but where’s the love for the other 11 animals? What about us Snake or Rooster enthusiasts?

Maybe it’s a marketing strategy? Creating a sense of exclusivity can drive up demand, especially for collectors. And 888 is such a lucky number in many Asian cultures, it’s almost like a built-in marketing message.

Since when a dragon is considered an “animal”? Last I checked dragons were still considered mythical creatures. You wouldn’t call a Minotaur an animal, would you?

Agree totally! I picked up the Master Moonphase last year and I’m completely floored by the quality. The finishing is exquisite, the moonphase complication is mesmerizing, and the accuracy is spot-on. Longines is definitely giving established brands a run for their money.

Maybe they’re catering to the strong cultural significance of the dragon in Asian cultures. But still, feels like a missed opportunity to reach a wider audience.
