When you think FNAF, you expect jumpscares and murder robots, not some complicated tale about a guy trying to keep custody of his sister and dream-walking to find his brother. It felt drawn out, making you wait the whole movie for something to happen, and when it does, it’s kind of disappointing. If turning a game into a movie is too tricky without it being boring or if the story’s just tough to translate, maybe it’s better not to bother. Even if the movie was meant “for the fans,” that doesn’t excuse it from being not great as a standalone film.

So, just wrapped up watching it. Not gonna claim I’m a mega fan or anything. Played all the games but never did the whole six-hour lore deep dive, you know? Anyway, gotta say, the effects were pretty cool.

The animatronics looked amazing, especially Foxy and Chica on the big screen.

But, honestly, I thought it was a pretty lousy movie. My buddy couldn’t even name the characters five minutes after the credits rolled.

didn’t quite resonate with me. The constant jumpscares
felt more annoying than genuinely terrifying.

Personally, I lean towards the slow, atmospheric grind of games
like Silent Hill, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and Alien Isolation,
finding them more my speed compared to the jump scare-fest
that is FNAF.

However, credit where it’s due, the movie surprisingly nailed
the horror elements. The tension was palpable, and the
filmmakers managed to capture the eerie atmosphere much
better than the game ever did. Kudos to them for bringing
the horror to life on the big screen!

The filmmakers put the limited funds to excellent use, delivering an outstanding performance. They went the extra mile, creating authentic FNAF suits and a functioning animatronic.

I found no disappointments. While there are some lore discrepancies compared to the original game, I appreciate the extra effort taken to ensure a finely crafted masterpiece, even if it deviates from the project’s inspiration.

Much better horror in my opinion.

But comparing any horror game to the holy grails like Silent Hill, Alien Isolation and ATDD is like putting FNAF in a league of its own.

Those classics set an incredibly high bar for horror gaming, just like we have our holy grails in the world of watches. Each has its unique flavor, and I agree, FNAF may not be everyone’s favorite, but it’s got its own place in the horror genre.
